Hey Artis, I’m excited to share with you a sneak peek of next weeks videos. “Drawing Cartoon People,” then spin the wheel, and… Well, I can’t give everything away so you’ll just have to tune in and see what our cartoon humans are going to become.

Happy Drawing!

Hey artist, just want to share with you my story page for my copter bot. It’s name is ‘Swifty.’ It loves sunny days and duck ponds. Hates mashed potatoes and thunderstorms. Unfortunately it was turned into an old, rusty, worn out robot after spinning the wheel. Hey, share your story of your characters here. I’d love to see what you come up with.

Happy Drawing!

Hey artist, I just started including writing prompts with the art videos. I think it’s important to draw and to write about the character. Another thing that will be included with the drawing videos are blank, comic book pages that you can print off and create your very own comic book. I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with and happy drawing.

Bring your characters to life by adding them to comic book pages. Now in the resource tab, you can print blank, comic book pages. Use these pages to tell a story about your character. This makes drawing characters even more fun.

Any guesses as to what this character is going to be? Hint, it’s an animal.

Check out this awesome art by my friends Quinn and Kellan. These drawings are so amazing and Kellan actually made his chicken character EVIL! Love these drawings and I hope to see more from these two amazing artists.

Hello Art Fans, I am ending this week with a FUN how to draw video and then a 2nd lesson where I show how to color this robot. The goal of these lessons is always to inspire creativity and ideas. I can easily show you how to draw like a robot and place lines and shapes exactly where they need to go. I feel that would get boring, PLUS - I want to see your ideas... I want YOU to inspire me!!! So create the craziest Robot you can and let's see what wild ideas we can some up with together.

Happy Drawing,

Steve

Showing Expression!

It is important to show what your cartoon character is thinking, feeling, and the type of personality they have. Is this an evil character or a shy character. What is the mood of the character or what are they thinking at that very moment of the story. The eyes are the best way to show a characters emotion.

Part 3 of the series Cartoon 101 comes out on Monday June 6th here on Harptooniacs. You will have a chance to not only watch the courses but also download the PDF or digital worksheets and work with Steve Harpster creating great cartoon expressions.

Happy Drawing,

Steve Harpster
